Step 3 is wrong. That will just get you back to an encrypted switch file. You need to use the original xv2savedec for PC to get the encrypted PC file.

I wanted to have my tool be capable of encrypting/decrypting in the PC format but my C++ isn't good enough.

Oh I see, so I would need the original xv2savedec. Ty I'll look through the thread

Edit: the PS4/PC/Xbone version of xv2savedec link isn't up anymore..

Now how do I undo what I've done in Step 3 ("Modify it slightly so the PC tools think it's a PC file (this is the "PC" version that my tool spits out))?

So were you able to edit and return the edits to the switch format? You just need to go in reverse order for that.

1. Make edits on the encrypted PC file with the GUI editor and save
2. Decrypt resulting file with the PC version of xv2savedec
3. Pass that decrypted file to my version (xv2savedec_switch)
4. Put the resulting file back on the switch

Where are you in this process?

1. Get switch save file
2. Make a backup copy
3. Decrypt it with switch_xv2savedec
4. Re-encrypt it with the PC version of xv2savdec
5. Edit with Lazybone's editor
6. Save
7. Re-encrypt with switch_xv2savedec
8. Put save file back on switch and see if the edits worked. Some will not or will corrupt the switch save.

So I just gave this a try with xv2savdec.exe from below and it worked as expected. Try running it from a command line to see if it gives you any extra info. The savefile1.pc.sav is the one that you want to open with the editor.

@l7777 Not sure if you're still active on this thread, but this dosent seem to work for me on the latest version of Xenoverse 2 on Switch. Files wont decrypt/re-encrypt properly. Is it posssible if you could ever update the program please?

The problem Im having is that I get my latest save file on the latest version, when run through your version of the decryptor it dosent decrypt my save at all

So step 3? Does it give an error? Run from the command line to make the errors easier to see.
