    Good evening!

I’ve installed the Xkey on my phat 360 (Lite on DG 16D2S). The key was extracted in 2010 when I first modified it for the I extreme firmware.

I converted the dummy.bin To the firmware.bin file with jungle flasher by using my old dummy.bin and spoofed it with the post 13421 lite on folder.

I then moved this firmware.bin folder onto the Micro sd Card folder.

I start the Xbox with my controller and it cycles through the open-close-reading cycle. After I keep the Xbox on for a while and click open tray it does not cycle - I need to close the tray by hitting a again on the controller then it says reading but never picks up the external hdd.

Menu iso is set to y. I copied it to the root folder of my external hdd. When that didn’t work I also put it in with the firmware.bin folder on the Sd card and in the games folder on the sd card.

ive tried an 8GB USB stick and a 16 GB USB SanDisk. My external hdd is a wd passport. They have all been formatted to ntfs. (yes they haves a folder named “games” and I’ve also tried “Games” without the “” of course.

I’ve doubled check the connections, and the ribbon cable is properly connected.

Could it be that my dummy.bin key is not correct for some reason?

ive unplugged the DVD drive and it still plays my saved games that are on the Xbox original hdd (the factory one that plugs on top of the Xbox).

Did you use that external hdd before? if not maybe you need to power on your external hdd from another source than the xbox360 itself.

I’ve used it to backup things from my laptop and never had an issue with it. Even the USB sticks with 1 iso on them wouldn’t work.

we are talking about x360key doesnt detect it, pc is another history.Have you used before on the xbox360 via x360key?
x360key wont power on your external hdd, i dont think so. thats why cant be detect it.
If you cant get it work, you need a usb hub with power supply.

Ok. So if I get the why cable, can I just use a regular phone charge to plug into the wall and connect it to the external hard drive?

Is it common from USB sticks to not work as well?

I tried getting a USB stick today that was on the compatible list on se7ensis.

You can give a try, but i recommend you to get the USB hub with power supply, i can guarantee it will work cause that what i use from day 1.
Not at all, not all USB sticks works on the xbox360.

I've thrown countless of flashdrives at the 360 and they all got formatted and accepted.

Anyway, updating without the remote is as simple as waiting 5 minutes before rebooting it.
The remote is simply a small accessory that's completely useless when using MenuISO.

    Few other trouble shooting questions:
Your drive is flashed to a stock firmware?
Firmware file on the microSD is also post 13599?
Firmware file on the root of the microSD?
Xkey config on both the microSD and USB device?
Blue tab on the FCC cable in the proper position?

My lite on drive still has the LT firmware (unless doing dash updates reverses this but i doubt it). The laser quit on it, that’s why I went with the xkey.

Firmware.bin file on the sd card has been spoofed with the post_13141. I’ve never heard of post 13599? I’ve got a phat 360, does it still apply?

Yes xkey.cfg is located in both those folders.
    Cable is in proper position

    Revert your drive to stock.
Flash the 02510c firmware to your drive.

    That should mend the issue.

I’ve got a laptop and don’t have a express slot so no can do. I guess I can get the usb pro but I’m not sure I want to throw any more money at this on a maybe.

What about this post 13599 that you’re talking about? Do you think that’s worth looking into?

13599 is the dash that updated the DVD drives in the phatties.

You could send me the drive or you could contact @brickmii82, he's in the US.
We can revert the drive to stock for you.

Sorry just to confirm. Would the 13599 dash update have changed my drive key since it was last extracted in 2010? This could be my issue right now.

If this is the case, since my drive currently has iExtreme 3.0 can I still extract the new key? Also, do I need to find new jungle flasher stock firmware so that I get a post_13599 firmware to spoof with instead of post_13141?

I know you can spoof other drives but a firmware? spoofing won't allow you to play newer games, because newer games require new firmware to be installed. xgd3 games use around a gig more space, so the layer break and padding sizes are different. I've never burned an xgd3 game though. I had a jtag before that was released.

Yes, try a powered USB hub and flash back to stock firmware on my drive. And apparently I don’t need to worry about spoofing dvd drive key drive key to 13599 as that was mentioned for no reason apparently. Just the the stock lite on post_13141

Final question to help me troubleshoot. If my flashed dvd drive isn’t installed in the console and I just use the xkey, does it matter that my stock drive is flashed with lt 3.0? Maybe when flashing the DVD drive it updates something onto the motherboard?

Thanks for the help this far, if I manage to revert the drive to stock I’ll let you guys know if it worked or not.

    Sly
