Can I get it to work in 480i (tube flat TV) without the screen repeating going up? :-\

How are you loading the game? If your using a USB loader or Neogamma you should be able to force the video mode to NTSC.

I'd be using USB Loader GX, I question this because I tried Pikmin 2 new play control which is PAL and I couldn't get that to work for the life of me (screen flipping up)

I just want to make sure I can play it on my standard def. tube flat-screen TV.

I've used my regular composite cables and tried xenoblade on 480i forcing the video to NTSC with CFG USB Loader v70. It works for me, so it should work for you as well.
