so if I have an XCI game and I install an NSP update- this will work normally without any problems assuming I install it from the correct region?

Also, if I later decide to replace the XCI with an NSP version, what will happen?

Updates, and DLC if you feel like installing those, are installed into the system and not the game. This is why you can play a game for hours upon hours and then lend it to a friend only to have the second console not be aware of how much time was spent on another console (because the game is read-only). Also replacing the .XCI with the .NSP doesn't affect anything either.

cool, thank you for the quick response. I may just replace all my xci with nsp for convenience.
