Hi,

When I first bought my Xbox 360, I made an "offline" account, and named it Danny. I played some games on it, got about 20 gamer points, etc. And my current saves are under this account.
Then I decided to sign up for Xbox Live, after buying an Ethernet bridge. Since I already have a Zune account, I had it linked to "drfsupercenter". So now my console shows two accounts, Danny and drfsupercenter.

Is it possible to merge these two so "drfsupercenter" has my saves and gamer points? Or at least my saves? Because I really have no need for two accounts... just that my saves are on the offline one.

And if I do delete my offline account, do I have to have an Internet connection to log on? (Like, if I take my Xbox over to a friend's house, can I still use my saved games without actually signing in to Xbox Live?)

Also, does anyone know if it's possible to change my display name on the "drfsupercenter" account to "Danny"? I realize drfsupercenter is my actual gamertag that I would give people... but can I make it show up as something else?

Sorry if these are obvious questions, I just got an Xbox and am new to the whole Xbox Live thing.

Also, on a slightly unrelated note, how easy is it to mod my 360 so I can play burned games? I have the newest Xbox... with an HDMI port. And if I'm correct, I have a BenQ (LiteOn-Philips) VAD6038 Drive. From what I've read, all I need to do is open the system up, and hook my DVD drive up to a computer? But does it have to be flashed for each specific game I play, or can I just flash it once to work forever? Are there modchips too? Are they needed? I know nothing about playing backups.
And, I just ordered a HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360 on eBay... can that play games too? Or just DVD/HD-DVD movies?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can merge a gamertag with another one. But I'll let someone else confirm that.

and It is quite easy to mod a 360. There are guides on the internet which can help you out. You just need to flash it once.

Are you kidding me?

HD-DVD is 1080p, just like Blu-Ray... and I can get 90% of them for under $10. I ordered a bunch of HD-DVD movies on eBay for around $7.50 each... and I compared them to the Blu-Ray, they are 100% identical (with the exception of the online Blu-Ray interactive crap)

So why wouldn't I? I don't care if it's a "dead format"... the quality is identical to Blu-Ray and it's far more affordable for stuff already on HD-DVD.

Surely by "it isn't getting used anymore" you just mean people aren't buying it because they're all jumping on the Blu-Ray bandwagon? Or are you saying the Xbox 360 doesn't work with them anymore?
Regardless, I can plug it in my computer and use it to decrypt HD-DVDs from there... for cheaper than an internal drive.

I think the point is that no new movies will come out on HD-DVD in the future, so your selection of movie is limited.

Yeah, and that's why we're getting a Blu-Ray player soon.

But why would I buy all the old movies on Blu-Ray if I can get them on HD-DVD for less than half the price?

I understand you logic about HD movies and just as long as you know it will not be getting any new movies, it will have been a wise purchase.

Alright, back on topic... Anyone know for sure whether or not you can merge Xbox Live accounts with offline ones?

Like, could I maybe copy my saves to a Memory Unit and then copy it back, using my Xbox Live account? (I don't HAVE a Memory Unit, though, since I have a hard drive... but if it would work I can get one)
