Gaming xbox live speculation

so it's been a while now, online sites have started selling xbox live cards at lower prices. (not sure about instore prices)

can anyoene confirm if this is a seasonal or permanent reduction?
is this microsofts attempt to compete with the ps3's free multiplayer?

Well it's not so far in the U.S. (sigh) even with all these bad times the prices are still high

People are saying live (gold) is going to be free but i call BS on that.

Microsoft isn't the ones who are making them cheaper, It is the retailers. If it was Microsoft then everywhere that sells the cards would reduce their price and keep it that way.

Plus, it's better to have Gold as a paid subscription service. We don't want cyber gangsters to multiply.

I haven't seen a price drop of Live Gold cards at my local game shops.

I think the speculation started when Microsoft made Live For Windows free after they realized no one on PC was willing to pay for online.

Right now though Amazon is selling 13 month Live cards for $30.

Wait a sec... amazon is still selling them at 30 dollars. They just probably ran out of stock of the jan 22 shipment. Now it says it will ship on jan 31st, their next shipment from this seller. So... it is still at 30 dollars!

Right now however, they have another seller as the main show, as Amazon doesn't have it in stock right now.

Maybe people are saying that its going to be free because slowly it is happening... more and more games are getting free live

^ agreed. free multiplayer gaming would really give the xbox an edge. i would expect it to happen in a year or so once microsoft recoups some of thier initial investment.

making ps multiplayer free is a totally separate issue. the pc games are considerably more hackable.
then again the same thing could be argued for the box.... once fully unlocked.

ooh it'd be cool if cracked servers show up for cod 360
