Is X360 compatible with old Xbox? What I need to do to run old game on it? Go online or just burn DVD?

either, and it's limited to a list of select titles.

search xbox.com for the backwards compatibility list.

and i'm pretty sure that a HDD is required as well. memory stick alone won't fly.

Basically all the most popular titles will play on the 360. All the Xbox games I could want all work on the 360, so you shouldn't have too much trouble with compatibility. And I'm pretty sure that sweenish is right when he says that a hard drive is required, so make sure you have one of those before investing in tons of Xbox games.

So far I burn two games and none of them worked [IMG]
Not sure if I should be online or what?
I put the disks and... nothing. Nothing!
    No autostart, no disc reading.
    Burned with ImgBurn 3x speed.
Not sure what fw I have.

You don't just burn the Xbox games like you would for Xbox 1, you have to patch them to work on 360. Most major titles are already around on torrents or usenet etc.

Sorry I can't be more specific, all the ones I have I have downloaded are already patched (scene releases).

    [-EDIT-]

Like: 2005-10-20 Xbox Doom 3: Resurrection Of Evil © Activision *FULLDVD* *PAL* *MULTI4* WAR3X 41x50 MB

If you burn that^ it won't work as it's for Xbox 1.

If you got: 2007-05-19 Xbox360 Doom 3 © ID Software *XBOXDVD5* *PAL* DCP 54x50 MB you would be good to go as someone else has done all the work for you.

I'm not sure if abgxgui has the option to patch Xbox > Xbox360, as I think mulleter had some option like that and abgxgui is the update (kinda) to that app.

the problem is finding imgs in the right region and are stealth patched

if i were you, i'd get a soft modded xbox - play the old xbox games and use it as a media centre - best £20 i've spent for a long time

mulleter has that option? meaning i can download xbox1 games and fix it up for 360?

Anyways I ask which fw he had because there is only 1 that lets you play xbox1 backups without making it for 360.

According to MS site, all you need is burning emaultor disc

By downloading this update, you agree to the software license and other related terms set forth in the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use, located here. Save the update as BackCompat_11-2007.zip—it's about 13MB.

You will need to unzip the file to get the default.xex file out and put it at a location on your computer. If you are using Windows XP, you can simply open the zip file like you would a folder. If you are using an earlier version of Windows you will need a separate utility to open the zip file, like WinZip. Be sure the update is named default.xex

The update will not run automatically unless the file is named default.xex and is the only file on the disc (i.e., not in a folder or directory).

Question, is it just emulator and will it work with backups?

That's for offline xbox360s. It will not work with backups from the original xbox. It needs to be ripped as a 360 game and burned onto a dl dvd to play.

Ok. So how to rip it as 360? And it must be put on DL DVD? What a waste....
    No multigame isos?

My Xbox is Offline so should I try with that Emultaor from MS site?

considering your avatar I am assuming one of the games you tried is Metal Gear Solid 2 substance.
Unfortunately this game is not supported by the Xbox 360 [IMG]
it is not in the backwards-compatibility list.
I have been waiting forever but they never added it with new updates! [IMG]

That's a bit of an overstatement. There are several popular titles that won't work, such as the KoTOR games.

But hey, Barbie™ Horse Adventures™ Wild Horse Rescue™ works, and who needs any other games when they have that! [IMG] [IMG]
