In the new May 19th dashboard update, Microsoft implements paypal, extending the payment option "to new international markets" and include support for the new disc format. There will also be a sperate update for the Avatar Kinect coming May 27th .

Ah I see. It was added while I posted. [IMG]

Interesting. I guess Paypal support is preeeety sweet. It makes it easier to buy stuff on there now, since most of my money is on Paypal at any given time.

60 bucks a year says you're gonna get tired on 360 fast. [IMG]

Lol. They both have their downsides Bro. Still, can't believe that PSN is still down...

I wasn't expecting Paypal support but that's interesting. I really hope that extra disc space will be used properly.

    What is the "Avatar Kinect"?

Can't wait for this update. Paypal was the greatest addition to the Xbox. Much safer and easier to buy things, while not having to use a credit card and risk the information getting stolen. Thanks for the post.

hah, I bet they did that because of the PSN issues.
They dont want to force users to stock their credit card details anymore which is good [IMG]
now if accounts are pirated, its Paypal that will take all the damage... smart move MS!

and I bet the new disc format will be a problem for piracy.
i think new games that will use this format wont be ripped and burned easily...

    Oh thats nice [IMG].
Any further details on new LT?
I mean, now they are able to get back to stock firmware with updates, does the new LT avoid these checks and prevent it from going back to stock?

    Irony much?

The PSN debacle has proven once and for all why Xbox Live is worth the money [IMG] People are saying the PSN disaster is the greatest fail since Atari buried 10 million copies of E.T. in an Arizona landfill.

I'm curious about this new disc format. Rumors say the Nintendo Cafe uses a new high compression DVD format that holds up to 25GB. Although a dual layer version is allegedly in the works, making the total capacity for the format a potential 50GB. This pretty much negates the need for bluray entirely. Bluray is great for movies, but for gaming it sucks. Slow data transfer rates lead to lengthy mandatory installs and lower frame rates. (See also GTA IV. And none of this be fixed merely by increasing the speed of the drive.) This is why so many PS3 games have mandatory installations. (GTA IV is like 10 minutes, MGS4 install is 8 minutes and there are 5 of them, etc.)

So is the new Xbox format the same as the high capacity DVD Nintendo is using in the Cafe? I thought I heard the new 360 format only holds a little over 10 GB.
