Personally, I'd say get an Xkey.
It'll allow you to play games from an external HDD and the only thing needed is obtaining the DVD key which can be done with your PC (if it has a compatible SATA chipset) and Jungleflasher.

If you really do want to flash it, you'll have to resort using a Kamikaze hack or sputnik hack to flash the DVD drive.
Again, Jungleflasher is the tool you'll need.

I cant find a xkey anywhere , there's no official reseller in mexico ¬¬, those methods seem complicated , wich one would you say is the easiest/safer one ?

Easiest method, Xkey ;p
Really easy DVD extraction on Slims.
Phats however need a probe 3/PMT probe to extract the DVD key.

You could get an Xkey from the US.

Late Slims (the matte black ones) and the E Slims need a RGH/are incompatible.
An old Slim or a Phatty would be the best choice.
It pretty much all depends on the DVD drive.

GoW edition is a Trinity, so I'm fairly sure it'll have a 16D4S drive @DinohScene. OP, there are also unlocked drive motherboards you can buy, rather than attempting the kamikaze hack. You'll still need your DVD key, and I'm not sure how the hardware holds up on XBL. Whatcha think Dino?

Question was about any 360, not the GoW edition specifically ;p
But yeh, when purchasing an unlocked board it makes more sense to get an Xkey (looking at the overal costs).
Unlocked boards/replacement boards are exactly the same as the stock ones so they are Live safe.
It boils down to the drive FW and patched ISOs.

You might see me as an Xkey fanboy but think about it.
The majority of the pirates are always asking/demanding USB loading.
They want to spend the least amount of effort on it (burning discs and correctly verifying them takes time)
So an Xkey makes sense.
Besides, it's also easier for the installer, just dumping the DVD key and done.

I totally see the viability of the Xkey as a "backup" solution, it's just the price point is a deal breaker to me. It's 70$ base, and 100+$ for the LCD upgrade included. I can find USB Pro V2's for around 60$, and the unlocked boards(if needed) for 15-25$. It's definetly less hassle and work with the Xkey, and less money in the long run due to DVD-R costs, but I guess I wish they would top out at 60$. I'd join you in the fanboy ranks if that happened lol.

LCD remote isn't even needed at all.
Tho it might help with updating and what not, ISOmenu will take care of everything disc swap/selection related.
Besides, thing hasn't seen an update in 2 or 3 years?
MS kinda stopped caring about the 360 ;p

I still say it's a really good investment.
Especially for the lazy person.
