I know this is like the n00bish question ever. I never had an xbox before so bare with me. I was trying to look at the forums but I could find info about. My problem is that two of my friends are selling me a xbox 360. Both of them have the RROD. One of them had the X-Clamp fix or something like that and the other didn't have any kind of fixes or anything like that. The one that had the X-Clamp fix was going to be mod all that but it never got to be real. SO my question is that if I could exchange any of the two xbox for a new one from Microsoft for free if it stills valid? or they will reject it because it was going to be mod or had been previously altered or stuff like that? It's just because I would like to send the one with the X-Clamp fix because it only worked for 7 months and keep the other to try new fixes on it. I'm really new in the Xbox 360 scene so try to put enter in a simple ways because I only know a few things.

they won't take a modded xbox
they won't take ANY xbox that has been tampered with

Microsoft did extend their warranty on RROD..so you might be able to exchange the other one if it hasn't been opened

So will you consider exchanging the unmodified one and then trying to fix the other one or just taking the good one and exchanging it?

if microsoft doesn't fix the console for you, you could always try the towel trick to get it working long enough for a trade in at your local game store.

I think that's your only option
send in the unmodified one. and fix the modded one.
I hear RROD is not that hard and not expensive to fix.

I heard about the ice, the fan, the computer water cooler but I haven't heard about the towel trick. How is that?

Well It looks pretty funny but I'll try it out. Any other ways to make it work longer?
