Hardware Xbox 360 pad with pc

I have just updated to windows 10 from 7 just to use the windows store for games for my old desktop.Problem is when i connect a xbox360 pad to my pc it wipes the usb drivers so no usb slots work untill i restart the computer,Then only 2 work till i update the usb drivers one by one in device manager.Does the 360 pad need to be a solid wired one or will the usb charging port lead work aswell because it works with the xbox when there is no batterys in the pad and its recognised in windows 7

The charging port will not work, you either need a wired controller or need to buy a wireless dongle
