I got my Wii U in 2022 with Tiramisu and WUP installer GX2 installed on. I downloaded some games and it worked fine, but when I tried to download more the progress bar froze, but WUP installer was still running (the bubbles in the background and the music kept going). I then tried to install the Aroma environment and downloaded Nusspli. Instead of freezing Nusspli gave me instead the "Permission error (read only filesystem?)" error and when I returned to the Wii U home menu it told me that the USB drive was write protected (The drive has a Y cable). I tried everything! I formatted my Wii U and the SD card (SanDisk 32gb) a lot of times, and still haven't found the problem! It's been 2 years!!

try those you haven't tried, I know it's costly:
Change to another HDD or another USB enclosure, with external power supply.

Assurance Wireless will automatically unlock eligible devices if it is technically possible for us to do so. For any device that cannot be remotely unlocked, Assurance Wireless will send a notification to the device when it becomes eligible with next steps to complete the unlock process. If you need help with device unlocking, please contact Assurance Wireless Customer Care at 1-888-321-5880.
