Link's Awakening was a magical experience. It was a short game and many claimed it wasn't worth paying full price for. I agree and disagree. It had a few problems; it took some community tweaking to get the game performing at a stable 60fps and to remove the excessive blur, there's no 360 degree movement and the dungeon builder sucked. We should expect better from a Zelda game. But the game did everything else perfectly. It had a unique artstyle and mesmerizing soundtrack. The levels were well designed. The gameplay was pretty much what you should expect from a 2D Zelda game.

There is a rumored A Link to the Past remake in development. I hope Nintendo learns from their mistakes with Link's Awakening. It would be cool for an older Zelda game to be remade each year and new titles come out every 3-4 years.

I just wish they'd remake the sprite based games with sprites.
Really didn't like the clunky robotic way toy link handled and looked while walking

I'm against remakes because I just think it's a developers way of making a quick buck. They took a GBC game that was 29.99 and doubled the price. Old games deserve that special place in our heart. But I know some people that are willing to buy them

Remakes are great they make it so as we never forget the originals as people wil be curious the search the original - Old games wil always hav ther history-so you've never pld resident evil 2 remake and not going to experience ff7 remake just because you think devs are making a quick buck lol thers no quick buck involved these games are transformed dramatically and take time to make its not like they take a few weeks to do-its yr loss mate if don't play any remakes

I played the the new RE2 game but what I'm saying Is normally remakes shouldn't be full price but they charge you full price. And about FF7 I personally played it for a little bit on PS1. I tend to skip remakes since you already know the story.

Same thing I said about Kakarot if you never played the game before or know the story you should buy it but if you're just buying a game for bells and whistles and going to pay full price for it that isnt good. I never played RE2 so I went to the remake but I didn't spend money on it

I never played RE2 before on PS1. I'll use pokemon ruby as an example I player the game in 2003. Omega Ruby came out in 2014 I skipped the game since I already played it 11 years ago. When I say I'm against remakes I'm against paying for something I already played before since they charging you full price.

BOTW should have never been $60. Should have been $40 at most since it was released not too long ago

Skyward Sword with Traditional Controls and Joy-Con Enhanced.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Are you mad the game was released on the same day on both machines - how the heck is tht a remaster lol
Yeah, BotW was at best an updated/tweaked version.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe wasn't "remastered" or anything, but also just updated. The game looks pretty much the same.

Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 remastered with Pro Controller and Joy-Con support would be awesome. I know, it's not a Zelda game, but still.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, please. And Skyward Sword.

Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD are still playable on a modern HDMI-console though (the Wii U), but Skyward Sword looks dated. (As there is just the Wii version and no HD)

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are difficult to play on a modern TV today. Sure, you could buy a Gamecube, or a Wii (hacked if you want the downloadable OoT and MM as the shop is closed), but most people won't go through the trouble so many might miss out on these old classics.

I'm all for remakes, and I'm prepared to pay for it. Why not? If I haven't played the game, and it is updated to modern standards, if it's still a good game it might be worth the money. On Steam I've bought several remakes and updates, such as Castle of Illusion, Duck Tales, Giana Sisters, and whatever. Ok, at a lower price, but still, I can't understand the hostility towards remakes/remasters.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling

LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market

and nvidia is already doing ARM

i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus

Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing

At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.

Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
