Hey everyone,

Old user here logging back in for the first time in a long time. I have two scenarios I was hoping I can receive some assistance with.

I had followed a guide earlier in the year to get my sysnand onto 9.2 (or whatever the sweet version was), and then got everything working nicely with emunand.

There is, unfortunately, a massive amount of guides and tutorials. I am not sure how to proceed to make the switch from cakesfw emunand to cakesfw a9lh (or any firmware for that matter).

Well, I remember coming across a tutorial stating, if you are already this far, then just follow a certain portion of the guide. So thats all good, i can do that. But the part thats the most important is the 64gb worth of stuff i have installed on my SD card. How do i go about getting that seamlessly over to my sysnand and have it working? i dont want to lose progress in things like brain age. something like progress in mario doesnt matter, but brain age is a different type of game where u dont really want to start from scratch, but ideally i want to keep everything without having to spend 20+ hours installing everything again.

Any help would be appreciated! thank you very much

Second question is i have another 3ds, it is on version 7.0 or so. I dont know how to go about getting it high enough to a version that will allow me to start any of the guides. any tips? ( i do not own, or know anyone that has a specific game that goes to firmware 9.2) nor any game that goes anywhere near that version. Just have really old games that dont have firmware installs (atleast i dont think they do).

what i do have: ocarina of time 3ds (original hackable one) and cubic ninja (ninjahax compatible).

Again, any assistance will be much appreciated. Ill admit, my first one question is more just to save time, the second one though is something i actually need help with, i was having a hard time finding that specific information that is relevant today as of july 4th.

Thanks again everyone in advance, and its nice to be back in the community :D

my last time here, i was working with the team doing english translations for Jump! for ds :D

First get OTPhelper running on your current 3ds setup. (read phailect's part 4 to setup otphelper)

1)Use OTPhelper to make a backup of your current emunand
2)Store that backup of your emunand somewhere safe on your pc
3)Copy every single folder/content on your 3ds SD card somewhere safe on your computer
4)Start at Part 3 of Phailect's guide (do only the lumas cfw setup since you already have emunand)
5)When you arrive at Part 5 section IV of phailect's guide, this is where you flash the backup emunand you made in Step 1
6)Lastly, when everything is setup, copy and paste your old SD card backup contents you made in Step 3 back into the SD card

Thanks for this post. I'm thinking about migrating from a gateway setup with emunand to a phailact setup of a9lh/luma/sysnand. Is there any reason the above advice wouldn't work for me as well? And, will all the mii plaza data migrate with this, or would I need to do something special to xfer that?

Should be fine since I also have a gateway that I use with luma a9lh. Just setup lumas, homebrew, and use otp helper to backup your gateway emunand. Mii plaza data should be saved in your emunand, so yes. After you have done everything I've outline above + phailect's guide, here's the link to setup lumas a9lh with gateway: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-with-gateway-on-v2-a9lh.431691/

Thank you very much! (sorry for the late response, i was having trouble logging into the site, i would press enter after typing my name and it wouldnt work..12 days later, decided to click instead of pressing enter, and it logged in)

I will try out everything you said.

As for my second issue, i will do a bit more research on entry points for older versions (unless someone knows for sure) O3DS 7.1.0-15U

looks like this should help me: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-upgrade-your-old3ds-from-4-1-8-1-to-9-2-0-20.389187/

Microsoft is a massive publisher now so drivers will obviously be best for Windows Linux is more best for older systems with potential

@False_Hope, Linux operates on its own frameworks that use far less resources and it's less harsh on performance.

    So technically yes.

So you'll have to sideload alongside Windows. You can have one partition for Windows and another for Linux.

As for virtual machines, they're not generally the best for playing games due to limitations. Closest would be SoftGPU which are third-party drivers for graphics.

@AncientBoi, If it's already installed, it does tell you to remove the installation media afterwards such as the USB stick or DVD that you installed LM with.
