Hello guys, I'm new to this site and my current aspirations and goals are to preserve the ROM data found on my game discs and cartridges to make a local backup collection that I can use for playing console games on my computer while also trying to preserve them as long as I can from decay.
In this method of sorts that I'm trying to test, I wanted to see if I could run wood dumper from a DS emulator made for linux to dump nintendo ds roms while conected to a shared wi-fi network. I'll be dividing this method into phases so that people can easily understand what's going on here and what I am truly trying to achieve here (I also want to write an actual step-by-step guide on how to do this, but for now I only have some theory and I still haven't tried anything as of today). This method is extremelly convoluted, I'll be using a wood dumper ds rom running from an emulator while connected over the same unsecured network as my unmodified 3ds device (with an android device providing a network connection via tethering) but I still have a doubt.
if the device doesn't have any type of custom firmware already pre-installed by the
owner of such console, does that mean that the 3ds piracy protection mechanism
would start to kick in once wood dumper starts scraping the ds/3ds game cartridge
connected to the same network with it's data-scraping daemon? would this ends up
briking my 3ds game console?
this is my current dilemma that's has been stopping me from performing such action, if somebody else had some past experience pairing two separate console devices together (both pristine and/or jailbroken) then please write a comment down in this comment section (I've also managed to snatch an SMS4 usb dumper dongle too, but I need a past windows version to run it).
once this dilemma has been resolved, I will move forwards with the experimentation so that I can craft a comprehensive guide for performing this particular convoluted method with linux. I'm personally all for keeping the integrity of my console device and I don't personally support things like jailbreaking my own devices (my opinions would change if there was a third party game console available capable of playing 3ds games on it's own).
