    I brought a new switch, I did a
backup, I installed a emunand and I’ve been using that to play and mod my game cart games, but now it’s asking me to update my games and I don’t know how to be honest because if I go online with a emunand, it’s surely going to ban me.

if I go online with the sys would I get banned? I am just unsure how to make it so I can go online safely to take switch game updates and download stuff from the eshop

I am kinda new to all of this, It took me a whole day to figure out how to properly install cfw, do a backup before the cfw etc.

I did install a nsp on the emunand, would this be a problem and would deleting it fix it?

So if everything has been configured correctly, you should have your emunand side be offline at all times and this is where you should install your download nsp from the web and run custom firmware and homebrew apps. On your sysnand side, if you have all legit things like buying apps from the eshop that you have purchased yourself then you can go online with it. This also means that on the sysnand side never run custom firmware or run any homebrew apps cause that will make your nand dirty and comes with the possibility of having your console being banned.

In regards to the installed nsp, if you game is asking you to update, first double check in settings that you are running emunand in custom firmware, it should show something close to like 10.2.0\AMS 0.14.4\E (E stands for being in emunand). If this shows that then go online, find and download the game nsp update . Now from there you can use gold leaf or whatever your preferred to install that nsp.

Just to note also if you installed the nsp on the emunand side, you will not be able to update the game on the sysnand side as technically its been configured as two different partitions even though they are a clone of it. Most likely it will tell you to either buy it or it has been corrupted or something similar.

Hopefully that helps and I covered most of the bases.

I’ve never run cfw on the sys NAND side, what I’m wanting to do is boot the sys nand, download game updates for my genuine cartridges and then tip them from my emunand
    not sure if it’s possible.

Don't think that is possible and I would hope it is not. Emunand having access to Sysnand games or vice versa could potentially open up the Sysnand to potential 'dirtying' and higher chances of bans. Just know that there is always a chance of a ban once you have ran CFW and an offline Emunand only is a safeguard to try prevent it. It's not perfect but helps a lot.
If you want to update the games on your Emunand, you are better off using a Tinfoil repo or manually downloading the updates from a website. If you go the Tinfoil route, there are plenty of repos available that I don't think I'm allowed to mention here, but Google is your friend.

It is possible by recreating your emuNAND after you've done the updates on your sysNAND, but it's quite a pain. This means you'd have to recreate your emuNAND every time you want to update a game installed there. If you choose to do so don't forget to use auto_rcm and/or to setup 90DNS again after recreating the emuNAND since I assume they're not set up on your sysNAND partition.

why not play your gamecart on your clean sysnand?
anyway just wanna share my thoughts if I were you:
so we establish that we got a clean sysnand and CFW dirty emunand.
Note: We will use a factory reset feature meaning you need to reinstall all your NSP.
    1. I'll back up all my save from my emunand using checkpoint or something similar.
    2. Make sure Incognito or 90DNS is properly setup.
    3. Update the Emunand Firmware with either same Firmware or Latest Firmware using Daybreak.
    4. While updating using Daybreak. there's an option to Format your emunand or something like factory reset. Choose that.
    5. Now your Emunand is like you boot it for the 1st time.
    6. Reinstall all your nsp and restore all your Saves.

This fix my Game Update Nag by the way.

    edit:
I missed that you mentioned about you mod your Game. sorry.

Just find the updates for your games on the Internet then install them in emuMMC.

This is no longer safe, many of the websites I’ve seen the updates on warn that peoples switches are getting bricked because of malicious Roms and updates.

i figured out how to update with zero ban risk without downloading anything from websites

That seems like hearsay as I've heard nothing of the sort and I use Google to get all of my .NSP files. Many people also mistake a "brick" for an actual brick such as just a black screen, an error code, or just CFW not working.

It’s down to you but I do something easier, less risky and it’s undetectable by any isp I also slipstream updates over the lan so it’s a nice safe and anonymous thing I got going here and I know the source and I know the files will work and I know they are 100% safe and risk free

that fear of being banned is what happened to me with the ps3. I just had a feeling I did something wrong one day, then kept signing in daily to make sure I wasn't banned. within a few days, I got the dreaded "suspended" message and an email from sony. imo, hacked or exploited systems should not go online for any reasons. it's unfair to legit users, especially if the person is a cheater. if I had an exploited switch, I'd probably be afraid to go online too, since nintendo's detection methods seem to be far better than sony's.

Find the updated nsp and download it with a computer. Then boot the emulated nand and update the game with one of the many apps available to install nsps. Done

This is the only way, and you have to have a clean (CFW Never Used) SysMMC to do it.
