I haven't written the utilities yet as I have not been able to properly extract and repack the files for the game. It is moving along. Right now the problem is rather confusing but will get figured out eventually. Not 100% sure where the problem lies yet though :/

To say what's going on again asset repacking seems to work. Maps load battles load. Certain early game cutscenes load. Entering the town. Crashes. And I haven't the slightest idea as to why yet. The files seem to decompress correctly from my tests(checked half a dozen files or so and they all are 100% Identical). They seem to load in the same order as the original archive. But once I enter that town the contents of an extracted file gets corrupted and the game crashes. I still haven't found where that corruption occurs.

I have some testing code to write to re-verify that the (de)compressor I have is functioning properly and I have not gotten around to it yet. Taking a small break to work on another non temp related project and play some danganronpa :P the brain is still working however.

@[email protected] to call you out directly. The archive format and compression scheme are completion figured out. It is just a matter of figuring out the above memory corruption issue. That's all that's left before I can write the tools for actually Injecting new text!

I'm wondering if replacing the corrupted file with a backup of it mid-game is a possibility.
If not then, i'll snoop around.

Every thing copies over correctly. There is some physical corruption in ram that is happening where a previously extracted file is getting corrupted. I also have some hunches. But again going to take some time to test them out. Also replacing it mid execution does not fix anything as it just covers up the bug :P

Might I ask what tools you are utilizing? If you could, perhaps you may lend those tools to me so I may partake in ram corruption.

https://github.com/geekbozu/FF1_Tools I posted them earlier in the thread but here is I believe the current revision. If it fails to seemingly properly load the modified crown.dpk let me know. There was a bug that I might have not pushed....
Um, I have python 2.7.x but for some reason it just opens and closes as soon as I double-click the repacker.py file.

Is that what the readme says? also it will unpack the dpk file as well as the pck files. Please do not use quickbms. It loses some metadata we need.

Eh, I made backups of the romfs which contains basically the core parts of the game-as you already know.
Yes, that's what the readme says.

EDIT: I'm stupid and forgot all about Python. I got it working now, the Unpacking I mean. Now for some small translation and see if that'll work.

Stupid question: How can I put the romfs file back in to a .app file with god 9? Decrypt9 doesn't work with the latest luma update.

I used GM9 to just get the romfs folder from the .app file from the game itself.
I have no clue how to put it back in other than re-doing the entire proccess but with a dump of the game itself. Sorry for being so stupid.

Almost done with all this stuff. I actually made a plan to see what would happen if I loaded a save file while in the town.

but to use that I would need to "Create a folder with the game's title id"
Go into FBI, Titles, find Final Fantasy and write down the title ID somewhere. Then create a folder in the Luma folder named code_sections, then a folder with the titleid you wrote down. Then make a folder called romfs and paste the modified files there.
