So, I have a portable hard drive. And I am using windows 10.

My hard drive unplugs accidentally, and it shows this.

This has never happened to me before, I can't do anything with the hard drive after, unless I delete the partitions and create new ones.
How does this happen, and how can I fix it?

    Hi,

Check if It appears something related on Disk Manager or Events Viewer.

You could also try to access it using an especific Partition software or a Live OS, Win or Linux.

Depending on the results, back it up and try MiniTool Partition Recovery, or try it without Backup if can't be done.

Often times Windows will continue to show removable storage if it's still allocated to a task or if it is not prompted to scan for hardware changes. My suggestion would be to sort out your "accidental unplugging" issue first as it will do untold damage to the drive - they *don't* like that, you'll destroy the platters if it keeps happening. Whenever you're removing storage, be sure to always stop it first.
