you do realise Windows 7 got DX12 support

it was mainly because World of Warcraft is popular in china but thanks to that it now has it

They should have included it long ago, but, you know it didn't have it because "reasons".

I hope you didn't spent too much time on that, because most of those are either non-issues or issues that were fixed long ago. In fact, many of those are the same issue that only affected early adopters.

I'm not defending Microsoft as incapable of doing no wrong (Hi, Windows 8), but Windows 10 is a solid operating system, and it's foolish to use an operating system with known security exploits and no security support.

But hey, if people want to use an unsupported OS and be vulnerable to security risks, that's on them.

Ah, I did not realize that. Too late of course because I updated my Win7 Pro license to a Win10 Pro license ages ago, but at least now I know buying another Win7 license is an option if Win10 does somehow critically fuck up on me. Thanks.

If you're using Windows 10 Pro, you can defer feature updates for up to a year. If you're willing you to use the Group Policy Editor or a third-party tool, you can disable updates indefinitely.

    Yes. I don't recommend it.

Edit: Deferring feature updates using Windows 10 Pro isn't a big deal. You will still receive security updates.

    You have to differntiate between

Function Update (365 days to suspend)
Quality Update (30 days to suspend)

If you have decided to use a Update you have 35 days to suspend the installation.

Here I am, just did a Fresh Install of Windows XP! It's been 23 minutes and 38 seconds and I'm still waiting waiting for someone to "have complete remote control of my PC".

Lastly, where it the fǔck did I say that people SHOULD be using Windows XP? I made ONE COMMENT about how "there are still many people using it!" and that somehow translates into me saying that everyone should go install it? SMFH

    1. Feature updates include things like new features and new Windows 10 builds. They can be deferred for up to 365 days on Windows 10 Pro.
    2. A quality update includes security updates and can be deferred for up to 30 days on Windows 10 Pro.
Doing either is fine, but I wouldn't recommend doing #2 unless you have a good reason. Security updates are important, and that's why Microsoft only gives you 30 days to defer them (using official means). I use #1 on my family's lake house computer because it usually goes very long periods without being turned on, and it usually starts installing big updates and runs slowly when it's first turned on.

Really wished I could disable feature updates, as most of them are absolutely useless for my needs. But I'm on Home, so no dice.

You could've just said that I'm right and you're too afraid to do an actual fresh install.

Won't hold it against you, though.

Windows 10 Home users can defer updates for up to seven days, and the newest Windows 10 build that's about to be released increases that number to 35 days.

It should also be noted that it's very easy to update from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro for free, without having to reinstall anything.

What benefits does Windows 10 Pro have for someone who doesn't do anything more than gaming? Hmm, i'm kinda unsettled by the fact I don't have to reinstall anything, what's the catch?

DX12 on Windows 7 will be on a per-game basis and will not have all the features and improvements that DX12 has on Windows 10.

Well that's a typical half-assed approach by MS as usual.

Well, I am not entirely surprised. They probably don't want people to stick with Windows 7, lol. It will be losing support in under a year. If they gave Windows 7 the full DX12 suite, people will be less inclined to upgrade to Windows 10.
