you can technically already do that. just simple project with Arduino and wifi. Then use website to turn on and off whatever you want

its a joke but its do able if you can connect the switch to wifi you can use it to control you lights if you install something in your wiring that allows you to do it.

Too much effort, but I can see connectivity with smart bulbs... but phones can already do that.
