Hardware will the wii disk drive motherboard work without the motors?

I actually don't know the answer to the question but from what I recall (and I have not pulled apart anything newer than pre cut pins d2b) the motors were not crazy digital ones or anything so even if it did have some kind of load sensing then a resistor would do it.
