Hacking Will SX OS be the reason I can’t play Metroid Prime 4?

How likely is this scenario?

1. I run SX OS using Pro
2. I get banned
3. I’m unable to update my system
4. When Prime 4 comes out (let’s say 2019), it requires the latest firmware and I can’t play it

On a scale of 1-10, how likely is this scenario? It may sound dumb, but I’ve never anticipated a game as much in my life so I’m a bit worried.

If this does play out, is there a decent chance there will be a workaround for updating firmware on SX OS by then?

(Edit) InB4: I know I know, SX OS won’t literally be to blame. It would be my own stupidity that would be the reason I can’t play it. But just curious about this situation

Really?! Thank you for this, just made my day. It hit me earlier today that I may lock myself out of something I’ve been looking forward to for so long, so this is a big relief.

Out of curiosity, is there a way Nintendo could encrypt the cartridge-based updates or assign them to some sort of “admin” rights only executable with an unbanned Switch?

SX OS and thus playing games you don't own can get your console banned, but you can still download updates (and thru browser even games and dlcs).
If you use your own cert to download nsp games, that will probably lead to your cert geting banned. Which means no Ninty server access for you. No update, no eshop, no dlcs. But you can still update thru cartridges.

well that's strange since that ban became popular on the last week because most of CDNSP downloads came with a cert that is now banned
and you can get banned for using FreeShopNX too

there are 3 ban types. System ban, Account ban, and CDN ban. System ban usually happens with the first strike, followed by the other two, from what I have noticed.

Yes. It's not really a tiered system like the previous poster said: these are different kind of bans and so far these have been applied for different reasons. There's a thread somewhere with a lot of testimonies.

I know l that they are different. I am just asking, because I haven't heard about someone geting only the account banned.

As long as you have dev menu and the web exists you will always be able to manually update
