i don't think they will since now the carts are using headers from actual ds games and ninty can't bock that without either blocking those games entirely and eventually pissing off everyone that owns a dsi by blocking every ds game ever made, or somehow loading the rom data of every game ever made onto everyone's dsis and then someone would hack that and we wouldn't need flashcarts anymore. what do you guys think?

I'm sure they'll find a way but I'm also sure that the better flashcarts will eventually find another workaround and so on.

It depends. If they can find a way to tell the difference between a retail Danny Phantom game (or any other games flashcarts have used to bypass the update) and a flashcart pretending to be a Danny Phantom game, then there will be another block. If Nintendo cannot do that, then there will probably be no block since Nintendo wont stop real games from working on their system (even if it is Danny Phantom).

    Could go either way really.

If Nintendo DO find a way to distinguish real carts from fakes, then the game of cat and mouse will begin.

well, I don't really understand why.
it's thanks to the flash carts that many people buy the DS.
Nintendo should actually thank them XD.

The next major update will block flashcarts, but not for long. There's always a work around, especially with Nintendo's lack of general knowledge. I mean, if they can't stop any jackass who can read from being able to pirate an entire collection of Wii games with nothing but a few DVDs and a SD card, do you really think they can block pirates out of their handheld?

Whenever there's something standing in the way of pirating, hackers and the like will always find a way around it. It just takes time.

I doubt the next will block it.
Maybe the next to next one will.
What if ninty checks the contents of a cart.
    Could be possible.

the flashcart has a different signature so it's easily detected by Nintendo. (If they're smart enough)

So it's a possibility with the current situation.

Isn't that what they used to stop flashcarts in the 1.4 update?

Im sure they will because why else would they make an update? To add more awesome facebook app? I dont think so, those are just distractions to their real purpose.

If by "twarted" you mean they still make millions and aren't really affected, I agree.

Why does this require a freaking poll??
OH wait, just read the OP's sig, big red letters "I AM NOT A NEWB" is a pretty clear indication of the type of person who would make this thread/poll.

Yes. Nintendo wanted to block flashcarts for anti-piracy!

No. They're going to block them so we can't do legitimate things like homebrew, and listening to MP3s. [IMG]

Although, they did block the iPlayer which isn't intended for piracy... [IMG]

    Liv-Liv-Liverpool YEAH!
well firstly it is more likely the iplayer got caught up in all the "blocking" as doesn't nintys 1.4 update detect headers etc and so the iplayer would show up as a flashcart and get "blocked" i doubt nintendo would go to the effort of creating a block that doesn't effect the iplayer but at the same time i don't think ninty went to the effort of blocking it.

Also when there is lets say about 100 employees working on a block for flashcarts and there is 1000's of people working on a "work around" then i doubt nintendo will ever win.
