my old hitachi 79FL dvd drive (4d20) weren't able to read any disc, so I got a new one (4e10) from ebay
but, the new drive has a DVD Key of all 7474747474....

if I use this new drive with a dvd key of 7474747474747474747474, will I get banned from xboxlive?

you need to dump your drive and paste the key of the old drives firmware into
    the new drives firmware...

or a easier method open the drive and take the laser from the new one and put
it in the original drive so there is no flashing involved...... the lasers are the same
i work on 360's and flash them quite a bit.... Good Luck

    thanks for the fast replies

so, basically, if you don't play pirated games online, you won't get banned from XBox Live even if your DVD Drive is flashed ...??

when you change the firmware on your dvd drive you will get banned.
use the original firmware to play on live.

WRONG! You get banned for even having a modified console. Do not spread misinformation.

That's means the new key is undefined. Placing a drive with that key in a 360 would just make it not work. Extract the old key from the Hitachi, and spoof that on the new drive. Only by doing this it'll work.

All I could found on the net is how to spoof a hitachi to other brands, or hitachi to hitachi with ixtreme firmware, but all I wanted to do is spoof hitachi to hitachi with stock firmware
Do you have the steps on how to spoof the old stock firmware dvd key into the new drive (7474747474...)?

The only way to not get banned with a hitachi is to do what a previous psoter suggested & replace the innards of the onld hitachi with the ones from the new ones.

Even if you extract the key & flash it to the new one, it wont be salfe for live.

so, I should just restore the old broken dvd drive from ixtreme to the stock firmware and use it for xbox live and spoof the dvd key to the new drive and use it for offline backup gaming..?

but, how do you spoof the dvd key to the new drive?

update: okay, found a video on youtube on how to do it, thanks!
