It only works on original Wii's with built in GameCube controller ports.

The GBA-GC link cable doesn't work with Wii U and the official GameCube adapater if that's what you are asking.

The link cable uses the GBA's link communication protocols, not the GCN'S controller ones.

The adapter, being a HID device, does not support said protocols.
