will a dusty genesis game still work?

its been in my basement for a VERY long time and unfortunately its covered in dust. im just wondering if i clean it up will it work or is it a waste of time? btw the game is mortal kombat 2 ( oh the memories! :P )

I don't know about genesis' in particular but usually dust doesn't hurt old consoles. Just need to give them a good clean and fire it up.

EDIT: Oh wait a game, I thought you meant a console. No big deal, what I said should still apply nonetheless.

No the dust eats away at the silicon on the board and corrupts the flash , JK as long as it doesn't overheat then it'd be fine :)

okay thanks guys! i dont have a system to try it out though but i wanted to try to sell it at a local game store, i rather it be played then it laying in dust!

If it doesn't work when you plug it in, spank someone with it. Repeat until the game runs or you don't care anymore. Works every time.
