i dont have access to my wii right this second but i have one quick follow up question. that wiiflow wiki guide says to put the folders(ticket, title, etc) in NAND on the usb. but the first guide i used told me to put those folders directly on the ROOT of the usb... when using wad2iso do i need all the folders on the root? or in a NAND folder?

edit:

also im currently using d2x-v6. is that ok? do i need some other isos i could be missing?

I'm glad you asked because I forgot to mention that.
This version of Triiforce is setup to look at the root of your USB drive, so all those nand folders cannot be inside any folders. It adds some clutter to your hard drive, but it's well worth it.
I don't know if you can have your nand in and SD card. I've never tried it because I've heard it is slower than loading from USB.

Ah ok, good to know. And as for cios'? I have d2x-v6 installed currently on 249 & 250. Is that ok to be using with this wad2iso/triiforce setup? Are there any other specific required ios' that I might be missing?

Well...

What you have is perfectly fine to load the ISOs themselves, from your backup loader.
In addition, Wad2ISO allows you to specify what IOS to start Triiforce in, so you could launch the forwarder ISO with one and the forwarder ISO can, in turn, launch the actual games with another.

By default, you should just use d2x for everthing but there are a few games I tried that do not work with d2x (there are others, mostly VC N64 & NeoGeo not listed below):
N64 Zelda Majora's Mask
N64 Paper Mario
N64 Super Smash Bros.
WW Moto Heroz

For these, you need to have 38rev17 installed to another slot (I use 247, but it doesn't matter which). Then, when creating ISO's for these games, specify slot 247 for launching, or whatever slot you chose. There are other games that don't work with d2x but are minority, so you might want to skip this step altogether if all of the games you care about load fine with d2x and you don't want to be bothered. You definitely don't want to set everything to load from 38rev17, as you will lose a lot of compatibility, as well as the ability to play online on the WiiWare games.

oh ok, that all makes a lot of sense, thanks. But looking in my cios wad collection, I dont have a cIOS247[38]-rev17.wad file. Do I need the "cIOS 38 rev 17 installer" to somehow install 38rev17 into slot 247??

You need ModMii.
Press A for advanced downloads.
Select 24917 for 38rev17 on original slot 249 (going by memory, but you'll see the options).
Then select slot 247 for your new wad.

The rest is following the onscreen instructions.

Good luck.

ugh.... i cant get it to work. ive done everything perfectly.. i just dont understand. i created my nand folder succesfully and put the folders on the root of my usb(title, ticket, etc)
i have d2x-v6 installed on 249 and 250. i created the 247-38 rev17.wad using modmii and installed it. i created the iso forwarders and transferred them into my WBFS folder. they show up in CFGUSB with the covers and all. i set ios reload block to OFF. but when i go to load the games they just go to a black screen and i have to power off the wii manually and turn it back on with the power button on the console. im out of ideas at the moment.... :(

Let's see:
1. Install Mighty Channels, run it and launch some games to make sure they work correctly from emulated nand
2. Ignoring the N64 VC game issue for now, make sure that when you created the majority of the ISO's, you did not change the cIOS in the options (see first post for picture of options screen); in fact, you should not change any options for the majority of the games
3. In my case, when I try to create multiple ISO's at once, there is a problem that causes all the ISO's to contain the exact same data, with only the filename being different. Apparently, this only happens to me and I have to create the ISO's one by one but you can tell by simply loading the ISO's in Wii Backup Manager and making sure each shows a different game title

If all of the above check out fine, you might want to try d2x v7final.
Are the games you are trying to launch NTSC? If they are PAL, I believe they need to have the video mode changed in the Wad2ISO options.

i DID create the isos one by one and made sure they transferred into wbfs correctly and have the correct names. i can get them to run using triiforce mrc.(if i have cIOS38-249-rev17.wad installed) so they DO work from emulated nand.. with triiforce mrc at least..they are NTSC and ive created them with the default settings, and then went back and created them again changing their cios to 247. still get the black screen... ill try d2x v7final and see what happens.......

EDIT: ha WOW so get this. i installed d2x v7final and it WORKS.. so maybe that should be noted somewhere.. d2x-v6 wouldnt work with wad2iso and cfgusb no matter what i did.. but d2x-v7final worked right away! thanks for all of your great help themanuel!!! :D The questions I have now are, do most people just download their Wiiware covers through cfgusb wiitdb database?? it seems like they have SOME of them but not a lot... its not a BIG deal.. im just curious. I can try to make my own if i have to. More importantly, I had read somewhere in this thread that people were able to get online with wiiware using wad2iso. Im trying to get online with tetris party but its not working... any ideas? And is there a way too exit out of a wiiware game back to the wii system menu? when i try it just resets the game.

once again thanks for all your help :)

once again thanks for all your help :)

I'm glad things are working for you.

I download the cover through cfgusb but through the in-game menu, not the bundled configurator. The configurator has not caught up with cfg's HQ cover feature, so it only downloads "full". You can change the url configurator uses, but it does not store it, if I remember correctly.

Now, your problem with not getting online is that you are using 247 on all your forwarder ISO's. Remember that I suggested 247 only for the few problem games; it will allow them to load but If you load, but you'll lose online play.
With 249 (d2x v7), you'll be able to play online. I've tried with Tetris and it works. Heck, PM me your friend code to see if I catch you online some time.
Let me know if that works.

Another fine example of how it is wise to read previous posts and avoid a whole lot of frustration "re-inventing the wheel" ;)

Since nicklessguy's discovery that the dx2v7 alpha/beta cIOS are once again compatible with Triiforce, I done a little testing myself
The latest (r92) Triiforce seem pretty stable with this range too so I'll udate the loader to rev 92 :) when I get the chance.

Your EXIT question has also been answered previously. Glad you got it set up correctly in the end :)

ha. i DID actually read a LOT of pages in this thread.. but not all 29 of them :P I also read a lot of threads over at wiihacks as well. i just never saw anywhere that using d2x 7final was actually required at this point. oh well, now i know :) and about exiting out of wiiware games. is shutting down the wii the only way to do that? cus when i use the "back to menu" option it just restarts the game. thanks for any input, and also thanks so much for putting all this together!! its pretty awesome :D

I keep leaving holes in my explanations :P
There is a workaround in this post to take you back to the System Menu, instead of hanging.
Looks like you already found it...

One more tip:
In some instances, people have made covers for games for regions other than yours. They are sometimes in a different language, but at least you don't have a blank. So if you are looking for a cover for a game with ID WAJE, and don't find one, there may be one for WAJP, which would be for the PAL region.

Good luck hunting.

I've just discovered that with v8 beta you do not have to set ios reload block to off - you can leave it set to AUTO.

This should mean that usb loaders without the ability to turn off auto block setting once again become compatible with ISO forwarders ;)

so i got everything up and running for the most part. however like you had said,

N64 Zelda Majora's Mask
N64 Paper Mario
N64 Super Smash Bros.
and Kirby 64: crystal shards

dont work. i installed 38rev17 to slot 247. and then made the wad2iso files using 247, and they still dont work.. not sure what to do about this. any ideas?
