I'm running cIOS d2x v10 Beta slot 250 as the default IOS for USB Loader GX. I have a super mario game that happened to be on the Wii when I bought it that works fine from the official channels but when I attempt to load it from EmuNand the Wii just reboots without error.

I'm using a hard drive partitioned into NTFS for the WBFS files and general storage, and FAT32 for the emuNand and emuWAD file installations.

Below is an older syscheck. Everything I have is still the same except I have d2x v8 installed a few slots below v10 in case I need it

Code:
sysCheck v2.1.0b19 by Double_A and R2-D2199, Nano

Did you try booting another games/Channel from EmuNAND?
How did you create the emuNAND? (using USBLoaderGX or another dumper?)

When you have an error, you should try to narrow the possibilities by testing different things.
Try another loader to see if the issue is your EmuNAND or the loader
Try another USB or SD
Try to dump the NAND again using the same loader you use to boot games
Try another cIOS slot

No errors, just a soft reboot to the first wii power on screen you normally see. I'll another cIOS, and was also told to move the FAT32 partition to the front as I was told this would help. I dumped the NAND using USBLoaderGX, which is the same I play games with. Will post back with results.

USBLoaderGX supports "full" emuNAND, as opposed to "partial emuNAND".
but it doesn't support neek2o emuNAND.

Neek2o is a way to put the Wii entirely in emulated mode. It has perfect compatibility.
Full EmuNAND is a cIOS method to redirect all NAND access to SD or USB while the wii is still running on realNAND.
Partial EmuNAND is a cIOS method to redirect only partial NAND folders access to SD or USB while the wii is still running on RealNAND.

neek mode has 99% compatibility with all games. (I think only one game doesn't work)
cIOS methods has 80-90% compatibility with Wiiware, and a little less require specific cIOS version with VC.

Is there a list of what VC doesn't work via USBLoaderGX emunand? Is it known why they don't work? I've been trying Last Blade 2 and on occasion it seems to work but usually it freezes. Sometimes it just goes to a black screen which I can exit out from.

Nobody made a proper list of what Wii/VC/WiiWare don't work with EmuNAND cIOS redirection method.
I know this games don't:

Wii:
Zelda Skyward sword (random freeze when loading a new area)
Metroid Prime 3 on MP Trilogy (Wii reboots after a couple of minutes)
Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility (stuck at the Wii strap screen)
Spiderman Shattered Dimensions (freezes randomly)
The Amazing Spiderman (it won't save after the 3rd or 4th mission)
Pokemon Pikachu's Adventure (get stuck in the Pickachu's loading screen)
Inazuma Eleven (all versions)
Sengoku Basara Utage.

VC:
I don't think there are any. Only N64 games require cIOS rev17 or rev19 base38
Some ROM injected games require real NAND, like Hexen 64.

WiiWare: (Require RealNAND or Neek)
2 Fast for Gnomz
Let's Create Pottery
Hot Rod Show
Liight
Castlevania Adventure Rebirth (and maybe all rebirth games: Castlevania, Contra and Gradius)
Rubik's Rush
Opera Browser
Youtube Channel (official)

some Wiiware don't work with d2x, like Bonzai Barber (require rev19 base38)
It's a matter of testing different cIOS version/revision. old cIOS sometime works better. try rev17 to d2x v10

Funny is, using emuNAND on uLoader (Hermes 222 cIOS), Skyward Sword works flawlessly. The initial loading is a little bit slow, but it's ok.
I have various original games and this is the only one that requires to use another loader. I'm using a Wii with Autoboot set to USB Loader GX.

Opposng to SS, NFS Pro Street only works with emuNAND using USB Loader GX. Running from uLoader it doesn't find the savefile.

So, Last blade should be added to the list above?

try rev17 and 19 base38.
Though, they are old and don't support current features:
subfolders, multi-partition or Advanded mode (4k drives) are not working.

Put the NAND folder to root of SD or on the first partition of USB. (USB works betters than SD, I don't know why SD sometime blackscreen at launch, I didn't test old version to find which revision broke the compatibility)
use a 512Byte/sector hard drive.
and it will let you select rev17 and 19 without telling you that you need d2x

To make emuNAND for save on uLoader, you only have to click Game Options and click Saves or something and choose SD. It reads any channel or save if the emuNAND is on the folder nand on the SD Card.

It is a lot of work, but I found a method that works well with usb-loader gx for loading emuNAND games. I set the global settings for emuNAND to off, and then manually went in and changed the settings for my VC and WiiWare games to full emuNAND. This way my emuNAND doesn't interfere with my Wii and GC games, as they just use the global settings. Your Wii will still restart to the health and warning screen when playing a VC or Wiiware game, but it will function normally when playing a Wii or GC game. It is the closest way to have 'partial emuNAND'. Since you are using usb-loader gx to do your NAND dumb, be sure to use the 'install wad' feature of the loader rather than showmiiwads. This will ensure that the files are all named appropriately.

using the global "emuNAND save" option doesn't affect Gamecube games.
Though, it affects everything else you launch that are normally saved to Wii. (VC/WiiWare/Wiigames/Mii/settings/etc.)

Would a separate setting for wii games and RealNAND channels be needed?
I have idea for future way to manage settings, it could be easy to make separated settings for each game type.

Also, I think renaming the settings and options will be easier for all users.
"EmuNAND Save" "EmuNAND channel" are too weird and confusing, you need to find a guide/tutorial/forum to explain the differences and options.
While:
"Savegame location : Wii" or "Savegame location : EmuNAND" is more explicit and natural.

I think a separate setting for wii games and RealNAND channels would be great! I think it would spare people some frustration. It took me a long time to go through all 150 of my WiiWare and VC games and change their settings to emuNAND. Renaming the settings would also really help. I was pretty confused the first time I messed with the settings, and had to read one of your past posts for clarity.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
