Since there's no real list of confirmed compatible USB HDDs around (at least that I can find), I figured I might as well post a thread here about it.
Basically, from what I have gleamed, WIIVC injects have a known issue based around USB HDDs. Essentially, if an inject is installed to an external hard drive, when the inject is launched, a handover occurs between the launch of the WIIVC and the actual application. If the application doesn't start in-time, the Wii U will black screen after showing the Wii logo. Apparently, it isn't entirely consistent between HDDs. Some work, some work sporadically, and some don't work at all.
Recently, I started backing up my colllection and converting over to injects using TeconMoon's WiiVC Injector. They work fine on NAND, but not from my HDD. It's a BUFFALO Extended SSD.
It does not use an external power cable, which may be a factor. It also does not work using a y cable adaptor or a powered USB hub.
So I think it's safe to say mine is non-compatible. What others have y'all tried that work, kind of work, or don't work?
