An interesting patent from Nintendo has surfaced, a touchpad peripheral for the standard Wiimote. Unlike the Wii U tablet controller it would not incorporate any type of screen, but would work in the same way a standard laptop touchpad does. The patent proposes this accessory can be used as an in-game drawing pad or to add a mouse pointer interface to a video game. It has also been suggested that this type of accessory could be implemented in the new Sonic game Sonic Dimensions for the Wii U.
