Gaming Wiikey Question

Hi All,

14 months ago i had a wiikey installed in my wii.
Just recently i had to replace my wii drive as it messed up.
The installer gave me the old wii drive and i noticed that the wiikey chip has the info on top of the chip scratched off.
Is this correct?
Is the old chip fake?
The new wiikey has the info on top of the chip.
Just trying to work out of the old wiikey was infact fake or not.

Knobs or noobs it's all the same. There have probably been 50 topics on WiiKeys and the differences between fakes and clones. Do a simple search. Maybe you should have checked what was being installed 14 months ago. How did your Wii drive get "messed up" so bad it required replacement?

my real wiikeys have the text scraped off, as long as you can install updates its real.

and it's a tale that a clone wiikey can kill a whole drive
