Not to be a fanboy, but there are so many japanese games I can't wait to play. PAL users have a right to be skeptical, but as an NTSC owner I'm sold.

My ONLY concern is the "quicksolder" - for the same reason I don't like cyclowiz - I'd much rather use wires, so I can remove it in the future when a good homebrew chip comes out. As I understand, quicksolder is difficult for a newbie to remove.

Maybe I'm just retarded but does anybody know what the A,B,C,D points are for -- I thought it was quick solder?
Perhaps the prototype picture doesn't reflect the quick solder?

I think we, Pal Users, still need some answers.... what is this about

I'm more turned into Wiikey thats for sure, but still i wanted to know more about this.

Yeah, those "partially" statements need to be cleared up. I don't care about gamecube that much, but if I had a PAL machine I'd want some real answers.

Why are they being so vague?


On the positive side, they do have full region unlocking for JAP / USA. That means they are able to affect region with the Wiikey in place, perhaps the only thing stopping them is the code, something an update could fix. That's just my guess - don't

me on that.

I have a PAL Wii and it has a Wiinja installed. If this whole 'partial support' thing is cleared up I may have a Wiikey to order.

Not a bad idea. The fun in modchips isn't just stealing games, it's being able to take apart your system, melt some metal and look at nintendo guts. Making your own Wiip! would definitely add to the whole "do it yourself" fun. Bonus if you contribute to the code once the source is released.

i was under the impression that it was either quicksolder or wires? if its quicksolder only i definately dont want a bar of it, theres no doubt this is the best modchip so far, but if i buy and install it, i wanna know i can dig it out if the updates let me down and better chips come out!!!

originally it was going to be part quicksolder, part wire, but now it's all quicksolder. Good for amateurs, unless you want to remove it someday.

Not very easy, you have to get the solder off all the points before you can pull it away. It is easy to remove solder from a single connection because you can pull apart the connection as the solder is melted. Not so when it is connected at multiple points.
The points on the 'prototype' chip look very easy to solder wires to though. I would definitely use wires, I'm not a fan of the "quicksolder" connections.

They never said that. Previously they said "play JAP & US games on US consoles" and "PAL games on EURO console". Now they've added some support of US games on PAL consoles.

so, how does quicksolder work? It has cold solder in the board already, and I just position it inplace and melt the solder?
I've never modded anything before; and I have preordered my chip; so I'm looking foward to it.

As for the Wii homebrew; I don't think its as big a deal as people are making out to be....
For starters all the emulators are able to be run through the gamecube, and if someone does develop independant wii homebrew, they can just do it as a flash program (much easier than developing wii code I'm sure) and upload it to the net.
The lack of a media centre is not that big of a deal cause we don't have a HD either...

I dunno; as far as I am concerned this is the perfect chip.
