Interesting that it can be updated by disc, but this makes me slightly worried that it can be detected in software by Nintendo. Does the updating by disc feature mean it will play Wii homebrew stuff I wonder?

No NTSC-games on PAL, but still this is the chip to get.

Sure Wiinja and CycloWiz might work for the whole Wii lifetime, but i'd rather be safe with an upgradeable chip. Too much hassle to open up the console for another chip in the future

Due to this post, i'm left with ordering this when it comes out after my next paycheck, OR, waiting for another Wii MOD, cause honestly. What has it been 2 days since the release announcement of the CycloWiz and not much longer thant he Wiinja..I think mroe MODs are to come within this month alone.

Being able to play NTSC-J games is definitely a plus, but if it's an $80 chip ... I dunno.

usually the old addage "You get what you pay for" still applies. The price point will make a huge difference if updates come in a timely manner, and if it avoids the hiccups other chips might suffer.
