    Hello,

I just recently tried to update my wii (hasn't been updated in years). When I did it, everything seemed fine, but the homebrew channel was removed. Then I figured out tht the wii shop channel didn't work either because it said that I needed to update my wii. When I tried to update it again, it gave me an error code (can't tell you what it is right now because I sent it to nintendo. They won't fix it.) How can I fix this?

Did you install preloader/priiloader and enable "block online updates"?

Sending it to N for repair was a silly move. Simply deleting HBC wont remove EVERY trace of Homebrew, tickets get left behind INCLUDING what the channel name is/was. There is a tutorial on here for cleaning your system, should've asked here first

Wow thats gotta be the silliest idea I ever heard! updating is a bad Idea to begin with and on top of that you sent a hacked wii to Big N? just be glad all they will do is send it back to you.

Couldn't blame him for doing that. I'd run from Sony too.

LOL I always had that same effect on posters at GSCentral too..... Well getting back on topic I'd say that when you get your wii back the first thing to do is to install the HBC again and then manually update you IOS using modmii to guide you through the whole proccess of rehacking/safely updating your wii.

Thank you all for replying so fast. Yes, I agree that it was a stupid thing of me to do, but my thought pocess was that they can't sue me, so I might as well give it a shot. =D. Well, I was worth a try. Anyway, when I get it back, I'll try reinstalling hbc. Should Bannerbomb V2 work?

    Thanks,
    Nami

Okay, then it should work. Will I be able to access the Wii shop channel if I update via ModMii?

yes. Modmii will give you all the IOS that need to be installed to get you up to date and able to access the shop and everything else again. Hope it doesn't take too long to get your wii back and working.

Also glad you are a member that can laugh at them selves. Some people would have started going on a flaming war for the comments made lol.

Thank you very much. I'll try to get everything downloaded and ready for when my wii comes back in. And I know what you mean, about flaming. I have had that happen to me on other forums, so I try to make sure that I don't flame anyone for constructive criticism. I'm glad that everything worked out alright, and I'll post when I get my wii back to see if it worked or not.

ok sounds good. Next time ask to save yourself the trouble [IMG] contrary to what most people like to do it's best to ask first and act later lol. (Ill be the first to admit I don't always follow that advice.)
