If you have installed DVDx with option IOS 249 (for backup loader), you should uninstall it before, otherwise it'll block normal discs.

wha, thats not true at all

two things dvdx and cIOS rev 5 do not block at all:
-original games (although they can not be played on Backup-Loader at all)
-DVD playback via MplayerDVD (it takes about 10 seconds longer for the disc to start than with patchmii install, you can wait)

just to clear that up.

no official discs work with "Backup-loader" for me, but I am chipped, FULLSTOP.
for "Backup-launcher", which is different, it loads commercial discs and original backups fine. FULLSTOP.
Launcher is different from loader. FULLSTOP.
if I am wrong, it is because I am chipped.

Instead of pulling/unplugging the power cord, why not just hold the power button down?

Its safer and the Wii will turn off properly. It would stop any shortages or anything to do with the dvd drive as the Wii knows it is manually being powered down.

The same thing happened to me. Just leave your Wii idle for about 3 hours or so and It should work the next time you power it on. I thought it was because it had over heated but I dont really know.
