I suggest you read about the forum and do some research.

I would go for a wii without a modchip and softmod it. Then play games using the usb loader.
You don't need a modchip to play games, it's just one option. You can also install the hbc later if you did decide to get a modchip and also softmod it.

No it won't be unusable but if you install 4.2 you can only run games from your own region.

Colombia TV standard is NTSC so with the modchip, Can I play PAL games? (most PAL games comes with spanish on it), can I do the same with the softchip?
Thanks

if your wii will not play DVD-R discs a mod chip will be a waste of money. If you want to buy a hard mod, buy a WODE (google it, its pretty cool). So I would test that out first before deciding. You should go for USB loading, it really is the coolest feature. Best feature is load times are super fast. It depends what you want and what you are willing to do. If you want to take the time to open your Wii and install a chip then go for it, but in the end you probably will just install homebrew stuff anyway and it will be a waste of money. Personally I think its more risky to open the Wii and hard mod than it is to softmod anymore. 10 minutes and its done

But for USB loader I need buy a USB HDD??
Oh noez..I want to pirate for 100% free, and not buy a HD...leave it then.

Seriously, a HD isn't more expensive than a ModChip...if you can follow some simple instructions, like never update the Wii, SoftMod it. Hardware like ModChips are right now not a good choice, with the whole BCA-Protection that they can't handle/handle ugly, etc...most likely the ModChip-Teams will release whole new Chips instead of Updates. Some Pros and Cons?

USB-Loading:
+Free
+Easy to install
+Updates are faster if new protections are out
+Awesome GUIs
+More Options integrated (Cheating, Forcing Video Mode)
+No DVDs wasting
+Region Free
+Fast loading times
-Updating your Wii may render it unusable (your stupid fault)
-1-3 games don't work, and some you can play with a few tricks, but not like from disc

ModChip:
-Costs money
-Hard to install
-Updates are slow, or may never come --> Unable to play some games
-Boring Disc-Channel
-No Options, you'll need Homebrew for those
-DVDs wasting
-Slow loading times
+Updating is safer here...but maybe no Region-Free
+Good compatibilty...right now at least...

Well...decide. You can also have both, if you want...
