According to Reggie Fils-Aime there were around 3000 people in line up until 12AM, and he said , cool as ever, that there were more than 4000 system in the store tonite, and that EVERYBODY was going to get a Wii without any reason to panic.
And so, I fear it won't make it to the regular newscasts because there weren't any injured people.
Um, yeah, thanks to the lines and riots and fights over the PS3, news are full of PS3, and nobody even mentions Wii. Everywhere you turn, there's the PS3And so, I fear it won't make it to the regular newscasts because there weren't any injured people.
As many of you expected, the Wii launch is a much more lighthearted affair than the PS3's was. Perhaps it's because most of the people in line actually want to play the system rather than sell it. A group of people united by a shared passion is just a lot more fun than a group of people driven by potential profit. It's the difference between work and play. And so, I fear it won't make it to the regular newscasts because there weren't any injured people.

If I were any more cynical, I would say Sony got a great marketing campaign going on, without spending a dime.
But, since I'm not a cynic (really, honestly), I'll just say that after the hubbub is over, all that people will actually remember will be: PS3.
Yes, I was lamenting this particular side of humanity. some post on kotaku nailed it right on the head :

I wish I was there! Those lines seem like fun! Too bad we never have stuff like that over here.![]()
In Japan, the Wii launch news is all related to how it DIDN`T end up a horrible mess like the PS3 one. They were even happily reporting on the lack of injuries and fights, commenting that the Nintendo fans seemed to be a much more peaceful bunch.
So, it`s not being ignored by *all* the news.
