@Cyan - Thank you. I haven't installed anything yet, but I've read a lot the last few days. One thing I did't get: I it really "wise" to install something with a "fake" ticket? I mean, if a emunand get's released, wouldn't it be better to keep your NAND "clean" before you dump it the first time?
I read somewhere that the "fake-tickets" are stored within the NAND.
it's always better to keep your real system clean.
any launched/installed title or even just inserted disc install its ticket and the system keeps it.

disc tickets are probably stored in a specific folder, and eshop tickets in another one.
so by doing this method, it's installing this ticket in the eshop folder, and you can have different tickets for the same game (one disc, one eshop).
What's bad is that if you try to buy the official eshop game later, it might detect you already have a ticket for that game and refuse to acknowledge the transaction ? or it will replace it, I don't know.

Also, the eShop ticket you now have doesn't contain the consoleID and is not tied to any console (but the HDD is per-console encrypted, you can't transfer or play on another console without re-installing it).
It's unknown if Nintendo can detect this. It would require : upload of the ticket or part of its data to verify it at launch (unlikely that it's already doing it, as it works offline), or update the wiiu to add this function (users won't update).

Know that we can dump tickets from eshop games, we should compare them.
eshop will obviously have the tied ConsoleID in it. but I don't know what else will be different.

it's exactly the same.
The loadiine files are extracted (decrypted) game from NUS too.

It's a "game by game" basis.
It affects only the game you install to USB, not the one still on internal memory.

The savegame for a game NEEDS to be on the same location than the game.
If you play a game installed on internal, it will save on internal.
if you play a game on external, it will save on external.
if you played a disc, it's saved on internal. If you now install that game on USB it will NOT find the savegame (looking on USB instead of internal) and will create a new savegame, you'll lose the progress started on internal "for that game".

Thank you Cyan. I'm assuming its the same for DLC? I have my legit copy of Mario Kart DLC. Originally saved to internal, I copied it over to a usb for backup. Do I need to copy it back to internal then move it to the external HDD where mario kart will be installed?

I think you can re-download the DLC on the new USB. or do usb to usb (but it will remove it from your backup)

Sorry for asking this but... Can you get banned with this? Is dangerous or anything? I only want to install a game from my region to test it, but if it isn't 100% sure I will go away.

it is safe, i tried it out yesterday with splatoon, and it even works online.

guys i have a question of my own, i downloaded Zelda wind waker HD from New Nusgrabber and it just failed to fetch only 1 file, the file that it failed to download is "00000008.h3" it downloaded the .app of it, and it downloaded all the others correctly e.g "00000007.h3/.app"

will the game still work without that "00000008.h3"? i assume not, if that is the case, the only thing i can do is either re-downloading the whole thing or wait until someone uploads the usb-ready of wind waker hd yaah?

I believe you can download individual files using the URL nusgrabber puts out, but I haven't tried on my own.
Edit: Use the nusgrabber.exe NOT the windowed gui.

Thanks for the specifics! I'll be sure to keep that in mind once I start using the USB drive.

yes, you can download individual files manually in your browser.
You can also use JNUSTool to resume your download.

rename your folder <gameID> with "tmp_<gameID>".
for example :
0005001010041200 ---> tmp_0005001010041200
(this is TitleID for version.bin)

put it in JNUSTool folder and run a command line windows :
java -jar JNUSTool.jar 0005001010041200 -dlEncrypted

it will resume and fix any incorrect files.

@Cyan - Do you have any idea, if the tickets in NAND get deleted after you remove a game through data management? I was just thinking about what you said earlier. If I (for whatever reason) sell my WiiU one day without my USB. Would the new owner have trouble installing something official from eshop or even get a brick? Might be a stupid qustion, but no one seems to talk much about if changes can be undone after using this method...

tickets never get removed.
unless maybe with a format to prevent new owner to redownload games from eshop's previous owner :)

There are things which a format doesn't clean (like user uniqueID is not reset back to 1), but the ticket should be removed.

Alright. That would be sufficient, I guess...

That would also mean, that for a clean NAND-Dump, all one would have to do is format the system beforehand. Thanks for clearing that up ^^

is there a way to do this with New Nusgrabber?

no, NUSgrabber redownloads everything.
only JNUStool has a resume function.

maybe you can download the .h3 manually with the URL in the browser?

first : are you sure this file really failed?
some .app don't have corresponding .h3 files.

if it's really missing the .h3 :

run nusgrabber again and stop it.
look at the URL, and replace the last part with : 00000008.h3
get the file from your browser by typing that URL.

ccs.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net/ccs/download/<titleID>/00000008.h3
