    I have (2) Wiis.

One has a WiiKey v1.9s and the other is soft modded.

Both are currently @ 3.4U with various IOS and cIOS.

Both have different save data, Miis, and channels installed.

Both have the latest version of the homebrew channel installed.

What I'd like to know is would the following be possible?

Would it be possible to backup ALL the savegames, includings ones like SSBB and SMK?

Then backup all the Miis (already done)?

Then format both Wiis to 4.0 and begin to reinstall the following:

    1) Reinstall the savegames

    2) Reinstall the miis

    3) Reinstall the homebrew channel

    4) Reinstall dvdx + some media player

    5) Reinstall WiiSpeak channel

Would the system be able to have the latest system menu version and still be fully hacked to permit homebrew and backup games?

Has anyone written or read such a guide.

The problem is I get errors while trying to install some .wads and nothing is consistent anymore. To me, the most ideal set is as follows:

    1) Latest system menu updates (eventually to be properly downgraded)

    2) All the default Nintendo Channels fully updated

    3) The latest Internet Channel

    4) The latest WiiSpeak Channel

    5) The latest HomeBrew Channel

    6) The latest BackUp Launcher Channel

    7) My SD card being able to host/play the following:

any apps, backups of my miis and savegames, channels, emulators, wiiware, vc, etc.

    DONT FORMAT!
formatting causes more problems then it solves.

Just copy the savegames you want and install them in place of the ones you don't. Far more simple than doing a reformat that will probably just screw things up.

I know that preloader 0.28 caused bricks when formatting, but you should install 0.29 really on your wii for brick protection.

If you want to backup all of your saves, use Waninkoko's savegame manager. That should allow you to get anything you want off the system.

    1) Does Waninkoko's Savegame Manager get them all even the tough ones like SSBB?

    2) After I have backed up all the data what's the best way to get to 4.0 with its featureset while still being able to run backups and all homebrew?

Well once I have successfully gotten all the savegames and miis the valuable data is backed up and easily restored.

I am kinda shocked that 3.4u is still the loved version for most guides and more 4.0 solutions don't exist.

What's a good way to keep track or create a list of all modified IOS/cIOS installed?
Has anyone made an index tool that can report this, perhaps a full nand dump would be useful?

    Why format at all?
It sounds you want all stuff back again.
Just upgrade to 4.0 and do the thing you need to get all thing work again.
Its so simple and you should not have any problem.

It seems many people did not understand my post. No worries...I took action and had a solution.

    1) I ran Waninkoko's Savegame Manager and saved all 70+ savegames.
    2) I ran Mii Extractor and saved all 35+ Miss.

    3) I ran Waninkoko's 4.0 Updater.
    4) Tested everything and everything works.

No more mismatched IOSes or cIOSes and I'm not full 4.0 with all the benefits.

    Thanks for the help.
