When I think save problems, I think battery. This may be a long shot, but why don't you try to replace the CR2032 (I think it is a 2032, might be a 2016...can't remember) on the system? It requires no opening other than unscrewing the one screw on the little door on the right side of the console (facing forward). The little door slides out revealing the battery. Go grab a new one at Radio Shack or the like and give it a try....can't hurt!
