Hi all!
I've soft-modded my Wii back in 2017 and never had any issues with it, other than not being able to progress after some point in The Advetures of Tintin: The Game (I don't know the reason, but using a original copy of the game solved the issue).
I moved houses in 2022 and up until some point in the middle of 2023, I've left the Wii sitting on a box somewhere for about maybe a year. After booting it up again, I've tried to load Kirby’s Dream Collection Special Edition off my USB stick, but it woudn't work (I've never tried the game before, to be clear). So I tought it was time to update the hacks I've done to it, and so I did. I don't really remember how I went about it, but afterwards I was now able to play said Kirby game. But now an issue was present, I got some slowdowns midplay Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. And later on I've noticed this slowdowns also occurred on F1 2009 and also on Super Mario Bros 3 from the Super Mario All Stars Collection (specifically on the first "sky" level on the first world - I guess it's labeled lvl 4).
This slowdowns all of a sudden were plaguing all levels on Super Mario Bros 3 (and if I recall correctly, other games too - but my memory might not be spot on here) and I didn't know what to do. I tought I've made something wrong while soft-modding the console again. But I didn't know what to do, so I've left the console sit untouched for some months, unplugged from the wall. When I came back to it, the slowdowns got better, but they still happened. So I've tried using MODMii, in the hopes that re-hacking it again would take care of these slowdowns. So I followed all it's steps, but unfortunatelly, it didn't solve the issue. And what intrigues me even more is the fact that the slow down that I've mentioned present on level 4 of the first world of Super Mario Bros 3, happens almost every time I try this level, but seldomly the game runs smooth and doesn't have any noticeable slowdown. On a side note, at the end of this level, when you get to the part where the background stops moving automatically, the slowdowns go away and the game always runs fine.
Guys, can you help me think of a solution for this problem? I've noticed the Wii gets a little warm after sometime playing, but I don't think it's too hot or anything hotter than it ever was before. I'm considering getting the Y tri winged screwdriver in order to open it up and dust it off, but I'm afraid it won't solve the slowdowns, so I'd like to check with you if you have ever had a similar problem, or maybe I'm not seeing something and you guys can enlighten me.
Thanks in advance,
Gus
