Hacking Wii plays DVD movies!

Oh my God... still not working... The diference this time is that now it goes straight up to the screen of the homebrew (I don't need to boot the .dol file) but it still says it can't find the rootfs.bz2 file...

My wii has wiikey and is updated to 3.0...

Tested with Wiikey and fully updated US Wii.
Works, and as everyone thought, it does not play real DVD movies, just burned DVD's (Anything with a menu isn't going to happen it seems). Sound is synced perfect, framerate is perfect. Tested with Slither burned (No menu, worked), Cars (Real, menu, didn't work), a Bleach episode burned with the DVD (.AVI, worked perfect. Looked REALLY nice too, better then on PC even).

Any chance that the real DVD movies you tried are Dual Layer discs? WiiKey doesn't support dual layer discs. All your burned DVD's are most likely single layer discs.

I've tried real dual layer DVD movies and it worked just fine, no menu of course, but the movie ran fine. I'm using yaosm 1.8 with dual layer support.

That's sad, because before I bought my WiiKey I made sure with over 5 people in the IRC channel if it could do Dual Layer. That really pisses me off...

I'm just curious....but my Toaster plays DVDs out of the box for 19.99....doesn't everybody already have a DVD player or 9 of them? Why waste time making the Wii play DVDs???

I was wondering if it's not working maybe because I'm using a DVD-RW? Or this has nothing to do with it? Because I use sony DVDs and my burner is in perfect state, so quality is no problem.

If WiiKey could ever get that damn update out of the door then they'll be right, but at the moment it seems they fed you with lies. Far to many people still claims that WiiKey is the best chip. A result of false, but successful, advertising.

Well, have any retail Wii games been dual-layer yet? That could be something to look into.
