is it better to have the wii vertical or horizontal? i noticed it doesnt get much air vertically from bottom. and does it hurt the drive to be vertical? just curious about my new wii.

It really doesn't matter. It's a slot-in drive

Vertical is better if you want to use a GameCube Controller / MemoryCards, otherwise it really doesn't matter.

put it in the base thingy that came with it... it was made to promote air flow to the bottom fan... just put the little plastic see thru thingy on the bottom of the base... it won't tip over, and will stay cool...

I modified a PC fan to connect to a USB port and then have it sitting next to my Wii to keep it even cooler with WiiConnect24 on...
