Homebrew wii mame artwork and other files

hey all,

just found a pack of art and will try that. but as for these filese? do I need them?
and what about .dats?

the "*.dat" files, which should be placed in the "/dats" folder, and the "*.ini" files that are placed in the "/folders".

I see no /dats? in the .ini
do I add it ?
