Wii keeps giving disc read errors with DL games

    I keep getting disc read errors with dual layer games. Using high quality media (verbatim)

    Maybe you have set the layerbreak wrong? Dont ask me what it should be though, I have no idea.

    If your Wii is one of the older ones, you should expect this kind of issues even with retail dual layer discs. And in general dual layer DVD-R are very hard to read, you should try to avoid using them as much as possible,

    You should use a USB/Hard Drive for all your games, it's bad to use DVD-Rs cause they do damage to the Wii disc reader.

    That was true about 10 years ago. I doubt the Wii laser is that old.

    The Wii was designed to read proper Wii discs, not burnt DVDrs

    That has nothing to do with the quality of the laser. Its the DVD chip that determines that.

    In fact it does. Original Nintendo media put little if none strain to lens (IF SL rather than DL disks) because of their product quality, just go check yourself a original GC disk on a GC then try a backup, and you'll know what I mean, and since the Wii DVD technology is similar in the end it should be the same.

    Any burnt DVD (even DVD-R) won't have in any way the quality(materials) an original disks has.
