What color is your wii?
And if it is a new wii then you can't play DVD backups. Use Modmii and there you go just follow the instructions and you can play wii games of a external hard drive. Change themes. Play retro game consoles. And Use homebrew.

If it has L64 or above in the serial number, you can't use backups via disks. However, you can still hack it to do other things and you can play backups via a USB HDD.

Ah, you most likely got the same as me then. If it is on version 4.2 or lower go here. My black wii was on version 4.2

Start from the Homebrew Channel link. The [[Launch]] Page doesnt work, so you have to search for Launch at the searchbar to find the needed files like bannerbomb and that. The guide works for version 4.3 too. Seeing that its black, i dont think you can run burned CD/DVDs. And why would people bother with those useless disc when you can cover it all up with a external one. Heck, they even come in pocket size

Wii is not white => Needs hardmod or another drive to read backups. And if it's white and bought christmas '09 or later, the chance is over 90% that it has the new drive as well.

I'd go even further and add that consoles, movies or even recent movies aren't your thing. Did you knew that that shiney thingumy that wii games ship on is made of pretty much the exact same material as DVD discs, bluray, xbox360 or PS3 disks?

Sure, hard disks are sturdier and more reliable. I'm using those as well (get your copy of modmii here for all your softmodhacking needs).

But saying that discs are stupid because they break easy? No. Sorry. Unless your name is Freddy Kruger, those things are fine.
