Hell Hibou has made a major update on his Wii Homebrew Launcher which adds DVD, USB and SMB support. This means that you can now use this application to launch homebrew from USB flash drives, DVDs and through SMB sharing.
In order to load homebrew from DVDs you'll need to install DVDx which is included in the package. You should be able to load most homebrew using these storage methods, but some homebrew either requires their files to be on the SD card to work or won't work at all. However if you ever happen to stumble upon such a homebrew you could always run them through an SD card.

Instructions on how to setup and use this application can be found here.

Does anyone have tested the WAD on a NTSC-U Wii? Does it work fine?

Don't wanna risk my wii if the WAD wasn't made properly.

So, do I remove the old homebrew browser, and then install this?
And how do I remove it? And can I install it on a PAL wii?

Good stuff. The Homebrew Launcher is interesting.

I never really liked the UI as it felt a bit slow and clunky (pointer support was introduced last version but was quite poor)
However, the larger icons (in comparison to HBC) are kind of nice.

Something else i used to like was the custom mp3 background theme music (removed since version .8, don't ask me why...)

So I hope that those basics are also improved on in this version.

I haven't had the chance to test yet, but i'd like to know, does the usb support mean all the system, config files etc can be on usb instead of sd?
or does it only mean that you can launch elfs using that method? (presumably this)
and if we want to boot via USB, do we use the same folder structure ("homebrew" folder?) (i presume so)

In my opinion this launcher has been innovative by introducing some nice features that HBC lacks, but i still feel that it isn't adequate enough to replace HBC completely, rather it's best to keep as a complementary channel.

Everything being said, i still haven't tested this version lol.

    homebrew browser is different software.

So has people tested this? I'm only interested if I can launch most homebrew off of a USB. My 2gb microsd is getting full.
