Gaming Wii Gifting

Wii Gifting, at first i thought it was a really cool feature, It was a feature for those people who were to lazy to go out and buy a present, great idea Nintendo.

But after i tried it out, i notice all the region security Nintendo puts in all their software.

Here is the message i got when i tried to give mr_blonde88 Mario Kart 64:

mr_blonde can't receive your gift for one of the following reasons:
-mr_blonde's Wii number has either been changed or has not been registered with the wii shop channel
-mr_blonde already has this title
-mr_blonde's wii has a different country setting from your own
-mr_blonde has turned off receiving gifts in their wii shop settings.
So i tried to go change my country setting to see if that works and i get this message:
QUOTEThe country selected in the Wii Setings has changed since the last time you connected to the Wii Shop Channel. If you have pending gifts you won't be able to receive them after changing your country setting.

So i hit ok and then i tried sending the gift again, but it failed

gahh, Nintendo lighten up i wanna give a good friend of mine in the UK something nice and you won't let me

you cant give ppl in other regions gifts because

I don't see why you can't, it really doesn't matter that another country doesn't have the game released.
Besides, Mario Kart 64 is released in the UK

Probably just easier for Ninty to lock down the regions totally rather than being specific on wheather a game has been release in both regions !

I haven't even bought myself a VC game yet, and I'm dying to buy my friend Mario 64 because I know how much she enjoys it. Odd that I'm too cheap to buy some of these games for myself, but I don't mind spending the money/points on someone else.
