I'm experiencing something like this as well [IMG] . Weird thing is, the games I have on my HDD used to work too, but now they don't. I can play them for awhile and they'll just suddenly freeze at a random point in the game. I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the cIOS' because the amount of time I can play my games before they freeze varies between cIOS 222, 223, and 249. Even after they freeze, I can still use the home button.

Your hard drive is probably going to sleep and causing the game to lockup.

Depending on the drive you have look it up online for seagate or maxtor or western digital software that can turn this feature off.

My default the drives come with the option enabled. The amount of time before it goes to sleep though is different and can vary anywhere from 1 minute to a couple hours.

because not all games read from the hard drive the same way.

Some games might load up an entire level at a time and you could play 1 hour before seeing a freeze.Other games like mario kart for example will only load 1 race at a time and if the hard drive falls asleep during the race then right at the end of the race it will lock up.

Its happened to me on mario kart a lot on a hard drive that had the sleep issues.I used a different hard drive that i could turn the sleep feature off and the game works 100% all the time now.

Aw no I just bought this drive today cause the list said that it worked okay with USB loader. I haven't tried it out, but the list says and it's been confirmed that it works okay.

Is your drive an official seagate external drive or is it an internal drive housed inside an after market enclosure?

    2. Someone who bought it from the same place as me for the same purpose reviewed it:
