So I'm somewhat familiar with the process of making a custom wad, injecting wads, banners, etc. And while on my never ending mission to get all my consoles to a "just right" state for myself, I've come to a heartbreaking conclusion: I am picky and insane  But mostly picky!

Here's the question: Can I make a custom wad to act as a forwarder that opens a game that's NOT a Wii or GameCube game? More specifically, a PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 game?

Bottom line, I like things to look and behave as stock as possible while still reaping the benefits of a modded Wii. So what I'm trying to do (since it's impossible to do so through injecting a wad) is to make a custom wad that looks like a Virtual Console game, and opens the game through WiiMednafen. The reason I'm having to resort to this, is because it's Fantastic Night Dreams - Cotton... and that game ain't squeezing into a traditional wad that I can just install and move to the SD card. But I can emulate the game no problem, so I thought "forwarders exist, how do those work?" I realize I'm being VERY picky here, believe me I understand. I'm just hoping this is a viable solution before I swallow my pride and admit defeat.

If anyone has a solution for me, I'd much appreciate it!
And if this is possible, I can make all kinds of channels so I can experience more TurboGrafx-16 games in a more authentic "Wii" way. Haha

I'm not super familiar with how forwarders actually works... but it can be made, definitely. Maybe through arguments or something along that idea (again, not exactly sure how).

But a warning though, forwarders/wads that loads In-Wii Emulators will still load the emulator first and then the rom.
Not exactly "stock looking" as you might want it to look... or maybe good enough for you?

I presume you could inject roms and make respective banners for TurboGrafx-16 injects. I don't know at what extent are Wii's Virtual Console TurboGrafx-16 compatible with other TG-16 games, but you could try.

Also... while RetroArch fails to load NightDreams Cotton for Arcade, I've found that RetroArch can load the PC-E CD Cotton game. Just a heads up if you're looking for a not so downgraded version of the game in the Wii.
